  1. It is clear that the future of electric cars lies in the future of clean energy. Today, there are more than 4000 electric cars in Sweden, which is the number one EV-country in the world. Sweden has been declared as the first fossil-fuel free country by 2040. The reason for this is two-fold;

    1. They are banning fossil fuel cars from the city center of Stockholm.

    2. They are making it cheaper to buy an electric car. In fact, starting from July 1st, 2017 the only cars allowed to drive in Stockholm are the electric cars. This move is actually a part of a larger plan to transform Sweden from oil dependent nation to a green nation.

    The EV industry is growing rapidly and has grown by more than 60 % in the last five years. Tesla, who is the leader in EV manufacturing has also committed to making its entire fleet of cars fully electric. According to some experts it is extremely likely that electric cars will be the majority of the cars by 2040.

  2. Thomas Edison started the electric car.

    Tesla Motors, founded in 2003 and led by Elon Musk, is building reliable, stylish electric cars and trucks. By 2016, Tesla Motors said, its Model S will travel more than 200 miles on a single charge, and its much-awaited Model X SUV will run at least 250 miles per charge.

  3. Electric cars are likely to remain a niche market, but that doesn’t mean they have no place in the future of transportation.

    In the near term, their niche will be areas where the electric grid is already stressed and where electric vehicles can help to alleviate that stress. That might include places like Long Island, where power lines are overburdened and electric rates are relatively high. In the longer term, the question is whether there is any place for electricity in the transportation future. If, as proponents tell us, we are running out of oil and gas, then electric vehicles will be a necessity. The problem is that electricity is even harder to get than fossil fuels.

    Only coal and uranium are in greater supply and, as a byproduct of those technologies, we get all kinds of toxic waste and pollution. If we want carbon-free electricity, then we are left with solar, wind and water.

    But water is not the best way to produce electricity since it is only available in limited amounts. Wind and solar could produce huge amounts of power, but not on demand. A battery is a way to store electricity, but batteries are not yet cheap enough to do so on a large scale.
